Miniature Showcase

KARISS RASS’THAN

This miniature showcase is for a Player Character’s miniature. Our very own Kariss Rass’Than, Warlock Cleric of Bahamut, Scion of Aqua’s Blessing of Water and, at the end of our campaign, became the Goddess of Aspiration. This was her final form, she had about three miniatures throughout the whole campaign to show her growth and progress. This is what it looked like pre primer coatings.

After applying the grey primer, I began to paint and the first thing I blocked in was the wings. I went with the common fluffy white wings as she had them to commemorate her adopted Aarakocra daughter, Ara. She got the tattoo from a traveling vendor.

Next, I blocked in the skin and blue of the shield. He regalia was to be painted in the colors of Bahamut of course and blue inlaid into silver is the classic color scheme of the god of Justice.

I made sure to use the blue and platinum theme throughout the painting process. I tried to balance the two colors so there wasn’t too much of either one. I think it ended up well. I also painted her hair in the jet black that was part of her character distinction.

Front shot of Kariss, her slitted snake eyes are the only real evidence of her Yuan-ti bloodline. She was born a pureblood, bred for sacrifice to the greater genetic pool. At a yound age, before her training and indoctrination could set in completely, she tried to run away. Alas, she was too small and slow for her brethren. Having been caught, they beat her near to death and left her for the predators of the swampy jungle.

Side shot of the finished product, the basing was painted as simple cobblestone grey with black and white dry brush for texture. As she lay bleeding in the jungle, waiting for death, she sent her prayer into the ether. It was a prayer for deliverance in exchange for her life and soul. Bahamut answered, healing her wounds and leading her to a simple temple far from the jungles of her past. There she learned all about her newfound god and the path she was to take.
